From the doctorArya Nielsen has a research doctorate in Philosophies of Medicine with a specialization in Integrative Clinical Science and Health Care. She is national board certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine and has been in practice for over 36 years. Dr. Nielsen is a past Chair of the New York State Board for Acupuncture and is an author, lecturer and researcher. Dr. Nielsen is considered the Western authority of the traditional East Asian technique Gua sha.



Dr. Nielsen developed and directs the Acupuncture Fellowship for Inpatient Care through Mount Sinai Beth Israel’s Department of Integrative Medicine. She teaches in the US and internationally on topics related to traditional East Asian medicine and Integrative Medicine research
