From the doctorDr. La Vega’s clinical interest lies in the management of epilepsy in infants and children, particularly those with difficult to manage seizures. She has a special interest in epileptic encephalopathies and genetically determined epilepsies and also specializes in the management of surgically remediable epilepsy syndromes. Dr. La Vega is skilled in the use of the ketogenic diet for intractable epilepsy and also has a special interest in the treatment of spasticity using intrathecal baclofen pumps.

Her research interests include epilepsy surgery, and the genetics of epilepsy.

Dr. La Vega is a graduate of the Universidad del Zulia School of Medicine in Maracaibo, Venezuela, did her residency in pediatrics at Bronx Lebanon Hospital and Pediatric Neurology residency at Cornell. Her epilepsy fellowship was at Miami Childrens Hospital.
