From the doctorCarolyn Iocolano, FNP-BC is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with many years of experience as a clinician, educator and administrator in various medical centers, such as Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Montefiore, Mount Sinai and Lenox Hill. She has published several articles on preoperative surgical care, substance abuse and pain management, for which she won several awards. She has lectured extensively on topics related to advanced cardiac life support, pain management and adult health. Due to her passion for positively impacting the health care of others, she became a nurse practitioner and received a post-master’s certificate in family health from SUNY Stony Brook in 2001.

As an experienced nurse practitioner, she is licensed to diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses, perform physical exams, write prescriptions, and order and interpret lab tests. She provides primary care, including adult and women’s health, sexual health, contraception, travel medicine and emphasizes wellness, prevention and education.

She has a special interest in viewing the whole person, including the relationship of mental health and physical illness. Her practice philosophy involves the establishment of caring and therapeutic relationships with patients and directly empowering and involving them in all decisions related to their health care.
