From the doctorDr. Nanette Silverberg is Director of Pediatric and Adolescent Dermatology for St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, the Beth Israel Medical Center and for the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai. Dr. Silverberg is the pediatric dermatologist for the Skin of Color Center as well. Dr. Silverberg graduated Summa Cum Laude and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society at the Downstate Medical School after which she did Pediatrics, Dermatology and Chief Residency in Dermatology training at the Downstate Medical School. After completion of residency, Dr. Silverberg did a prestigious pediatric dermatology fellow at the Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago of the Northwestern University Medical School.

Dr. Silverberg is an excellent clinician with a broad range of dermatologic interests and publications. Dr. Silverberg has published over 180 scholarly articles, abstracts and chapters in such journals as the Lancet, Cutis, JAMA Dermatology, JAMA Pediatrics, Pediatrics, Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and Pediatric Dermatology. Amongst Dr. Silverberg’s scholarly contributions to dermatology include her description of new medications and therapies for patients with vitiligo, care of atopic dermatitis, skin of color, immunotherapy of warts and care of molluscum in childhood. Dr. Silverberg serves as a Senior Editor on the journal Cutis and has authored the atlas, Atlas of Pediatric Cutaneous Biodiversity 2012 Springer, New York.

Dr. Silverberg has appeared on NBC, ABC and FOX television and and been cited in numerous magazines including Parents, Prevention, Scholastic Parents, The New York Times and The Daily News. Dr. Silverberg sits on the Advisory Board of Vitiligo Support International, and is on the board of the subsection on dermatology of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Silverberg has received numerous awards and accolades including Teacher of the Year in Dermatology, poster awards at the Society for Pediatric Dermatology for scholarly research, and has been elected annually to the prestigious Castle Connolly, Best Doctors, since 2010 and has been featured in Super Doctors in The New York Times.
