Research / Advances Dr. Chambers’ contributions to clinical medicine have advanced the understanding of treatment and management options for serous endometrial cancers and borderline ovarian tumors. From the doctor Dr. Chambers has made extensive contributions to the medical literature and is nationally known for his research on treatments for serous endometrial cancer and borderline ovarian tumors. He has been recognized in The Best Doctors in America: Northeast Region, 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2000. Dr. Chambers was named in Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctors-New York Metro Area,” 2009. As vice chairman for education in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Chambers advises graduating residents in choice of topics and design of their research projects, facilitates the residents’ monthly journal club presentations, and helps ensure that the residency and medical student curricula satisfy the educational objectives established by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Chambers is a reviewer for the journals Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology and Cancer. He is an active member of several national professional societies, including the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists. Locally, he belongs to the New York Obstetrical Society and participates in SHARE, whose mission is to facilitate self help for women with breast and ovarian cancer. Dr. Chambers came to St. Luke’s-Roosevelt in 2000. Just previously, he served for twelve years on the faculty at Yale University, where he was director of the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program and medical director for obstetrics and gynecology of the Women’s Center. His interest in resident education in women’s health is ongoing: he also helped design Yale’s Interdisciplinary Women’s Health Clinic (IWHC), which brought together the medical specialties of obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry and internal medicine, and trained residents in this interdisciplinary style of practicing medicine. The IWHC was named a National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health, funded by the National Institutes of Health.
